Nasdaq-listed mining company Marathon Patent Group has agreed with Bitmain to buy 70,000 Antminer S19s. The deal was valued at $170 million, it said in a statement.
The first 7,000 devices are expected to be delivered in July 2021, with the rest to be delivered in December. Once they are installed, Marathon will have 103,000 miners at its disposal. The generated hash rate will rise to 10.36 EH/s.
„This deal is the largest dollar application and Bitcoin Profit review one-time order for Antminer S19 ASIC miners in Bitmain’s history,“ said Marathon CEO Merrick Okamoto.
Marathon purchased 10,500 Antminer S19 Pro from Bitmain for $23 million in September, with a further 10,000 flagship units in late October.
As a reminder, US blockchain hosting provider Core Scientific bought more than 58,000 bitcoin miners from Bitmain in December – they will be delivered by September 2021.
